Pilgrim’s golf team has had a strong season, staying consistent as one of the top ten teams across Rhode Island over the past three years. Up against Hendricken, East Greenwich, Cranston West, and other schools ranked in the top ten, Pilgrim has so far maintained their long-standing success across their 2026 season. In the interest of keeping Pilgrim among the best, Coach Paquet says, “The past years I’ve tried to cultivate consistent and competitive focus on strong individual performances as the team progresses to reach the post season.” And over the 12 years he’s coached the team, Paquet shares his experience, calling it a “vital sense of continuity and veteran leadership”.

Despite the brisk weather, in one of their latest competitions on April 15th, the Patriots beat out West Warwick with senior Michael Spooner carding a 35, meeting par with an incredibly competitive score. Jackson Bromage also scored a 37 at a recent competition this past Wednesday, April 29th against Hendricken.
In reference to the teams performance, Coach Paquet also shares their recent highlights,
“Michael Bessette and Jackson Bromage have provided critical support, with Bromage notably shooting a 38 and 39 in recent outings and Bessette shooting 44 and 36. Jacoby Foster continues to be a fixture in the varsity scoring rotation…Together these scores reflect a focused collective effort as the team continues to sharpen its game for upcoming tournament play.”
The team competed two other times in April, including April 28th against East Greenwich and Coventry, and April 30th against Tollgate and Hendricken.
As far as student leadership, six seniors leave the Pilgrim golf team this year in good hands, including: Michael Spooner, Michael Bessette, Jackson Bromage, Jacoby Foster, Patrick Friel, and Ainsley Ottilige. In regards to their season coming to a close, two seniors reflect on what has made the team special to them,

“It’s a great team to be around, being able to come out for every match and practice and have some fun is what makes it most enjoyable.” Bromage shares. Friel adds, “It’s my first time playing and my first experience. I enjoy being around the guys and it’s just really fun.”
With continued joint efforts and consistency every season, Pilgrim’s golf team is a hidden gem, ranking highly in the state year after year. They can look forward to more success in the future, continuing their positive reputation as competitors and team members.
