On Sunday, September 27th, the Pilgrim class of 2028 held a fundraiser at Topgolf. Despite the rainy weather that plagued people’s weekend plans, dozens of students got together for a night of fun to raise money for the junior class.

The fundraiser, with approximately 42 people who signed up, was a success, with junior class President Cornelius Zmed stating, “As a committee, we were extremely happy with the results because not only was that our biggest fundraiser to date, but everyone was having a great time and enjoying the experience at the event itself.” When choosing a location for the fundraiser, the committee had to get creative when considering what would captivate the class. It was only when they considered previous fundraisers of the school that they found their answer. “Thanks to the class of 2029 doing Topgolf last spring, we knew how much fun this fundraiser was for the student body, and we wanted to bring that enthusiasm back with the beginning of the new school year.” The stormy weather led to many having doubts about whether the fundraiser would be a hit, however, high turnout displayed how eager Pilgrim is to come out to support their class. Clearly, Topgolf ended up being the perfect choice.

By the end of the night, the fundraiser had raised roughly $300, with every penny going toward upcoming and future expenses such as prom tickets. According to Cornelius, lowering the cost of prom tickets has been a goal for the junior class since the start of the new school year. With the triumph of the fundraiser, the cost of tickets will be substantially decreased, bringing joy to the entire junior class. The committee is even thinking ahead, with a portion of the money being dedicated to events for senior year, such as banquet and field day.
With these events growing increasingly closer, we should all be on the lookout for what the class of 2028 will have planned for the future.
