A flip of the schedule, a celebratory cheer regarding the finale of midterms, and a snow day helped Pilgrim High School transition from the first semester to the second. Underclassmen and upperclassmen alike wandered the halls on Tuesday, January 27th, trying to find their new classes and adjust to the new schedule. Coinciding with a one-hour delay, the first day of second semester was a little chaotic. However, it’s shaping up to be a great second half of the school year.

When asked what he was excited about in regards to the change of the schedule, Mr. Gibbons expressed, “I always love it when the days get longer.” He also explained that he looks “forward to seeing the excitement for the Class of 2026 as they begin to pass different milestones; Early Presentation Day, Capstone Day, Senior Prom, Graduation.”

However, in our excitement for the second half of the school year, we cannot forget the successes and learning stretches from the first half.

“Being rated a 3-Star school is pretty amazing,” Mr. Gibbons stated, when asked what he was most proud of. “That is from the efforts of teachers, custodians, students and families. It is a complete team effort.” He also expressed that he enjoys seeing students have fun, whether that’s at sporting events, concerts, dances, or other activities.

On the other hand, Mr. Gibbons communicated that he would “like us to continue to work on being nice to one another. Also,” he added, “[I would like us] to work on being on-time to classes, school, everything… being on time is a life skill.”

Pilgrim High School started the school year off extremely well. Mr. Gibbons urges students to not lose that momentum as the third and fourth quarters roll around. “Let’s get better today, and everyday.”

Happy second semester, Patriots!
