Pilgrim High School’s Social Studies department has welcomed two new teachers, Ms.Pagano and Ms.Pauley.

Ms.Pagano joined the school on October 30th, and Ms.Pauley December 1st, right in time for the holidays. Both of them are currently teaching ninth-grade World History. Ms.Pauley also teaches tenth and eleventh-grade Civics, while Ms.Pagano teaches tenth-grade U.S. History.

While both are new to Pilgrim, Ms.Pauley isn’t new to Rhode Island. A graduate of Tollgate High School, and graduating from RIC then student teaching at Pilgrim, she shared her excitement at continuing to be in the community and classroom here in Rhode Island. She shared her favorite part of U.S. history to teach is around World War I and its impact on the country.

“I’m excited to be at Pilgrim and teaching U.S. history, – it’s my favorite topic of history,” Ms.Pauley said, “And I’m really excited to start deep diving into world history and expanding on those ideas.”

Ms. Pagano is originally from Long Island, New York, but shared that she is happy to be here in Rhode Island and teaching at Pilgrim. Originally a graduate of URI, and student teaching at Winman Middle School, Ms. Pagano has enjoyed starting at Pilgrim. She also shared how she is enjoying getting to know her students and loves how students are involved in the community here at Pilgrim. Her favorite part of teaching World History is teaching about Ancient Greece.

“I’ve loved getting to know my students, and I’m just excited to be teaching World History and Civics,” Ms.Pagano said.

Both teachers have already begun making connections with students and are looking forward to getting involved with their students and the school community more. Pilgrim is fortunate to welcome Ms.Pagano and Ms.Pauley to the History Department, and to the Pilgrim Patriots community!
