On Thursday, December 11th, music teacher Mrs. Soares and Pilgrim’s chorus worked really hard to give a great Pilgrim Winter Chorus Concert. First, the chorale sang songs such as “The Wassail Song”, “Carol of the Bells”, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”, and a very special feature of “I Heard the Bells”, featuring student Samuel Norcini. Later, solos were done by Frantz Delias singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, Skyla Hotaling with “Santa Baby”, Alysha Levia with “Winter Wonderland”, and Bridget Pouliot’s rendition of “Do You Hear What I Hear” while also signing ASL.

The whole Pilgrim Chorus then sang songs like “¡Cantar!”, “Gloria!”, and the second to last song, “It’s Beginning to Look Like Christmas”, conducted by student teacher, Mr. Fayton. At the end of every Christmas concert, there is a Pilgrim tradition to gather all past chorus and chorale members and bring them on stage to sing with the current group of members. The audience was then asked to stand as Handel’s ‘Hallelujah’ is sung, just like how King George II once stood up after first listening to the song. The chorus concert was great, and the members worked really hard to make it all happen. One of the singers in chorale, Oliver Regent, remarked, “The concert overall, I think, went very well. We performed pretty good and I think the audience enjoyed the performance!” The Pilgrim Newspaper hopes to see the chorus and chorale once again in the Spring. Congrats!

On Thursday, the 18th, Pilgrim’s concert band, jazz band, and string section also played in the school auditorium for the Pilgrim High School Instrumental Concert. First, the concert band played “Capriccio Espagnol” and “Holly Wreath Medley”. Then the string ensemble, missing many of its players due to what many call the “Pilgrim Plague”, played great and melodic renditions of “Lotus” and “The Ascent”. For the end, the jazz band played “Malaguena” featuring Evan Nolan on the trombone, “All of Me” featuring Cameron Meegan on the trumpet and Asher Eastman on the tenor sax, and “Birdland” featuring Hannes Goetting on the baritone sax, Asher Eastman on the tenor sax, Cameron Meegan on the trumpet, and Tyler Brosseau on the alto sax. The group has been practicing tirelessly for the past couple months, often having the bands working at the same time as the others. Mrs. Watterson, the band teacher at Pilgrim, said how great the performance was, explaining how the band played “Very, very well”. The Pilgrim Instrumental Concert was amazing and one-of-a-kind. We wish all members the very best!
