This past October 20th, Pilgrim’s field hockey team competed in their very last home game of the year, wrapping up their Fall season. This game ensured the perfect goodbye for the team’s seniors. Although the team didn’t end with a win, their seven seniors left proud–of themselves and the team they’re leaving behind.

Across the field displayed several posters, signs, and other decorations in honor of the seniors. Each was given flowers and their own basket, filled with their favorites. The pictures and posters were so genuine and personal, making it clear how loved they are. The amount of care the girls have for their seniors was intensely showcased tonight, no matter a win or loss.

The girls faced a hard fight against The Lincoln School, but still the communication and determination between the players was obvious. Through several saves from goalie Jocelyn Dilone and effective defense from Isabella Pujols, Lincoln only managed to score two goals tonight. Pilgrim also had numerous goal attempts from forward player Abbey Killilea, constantly maintaining her dedication thanks to midfielders like Alayna Bowser and Lily Farrell who guided the ball up and down the field. Although they ended with a loss, these girls did not make it easy for the other team.

“I’m most proud of, even though it’s been a hard year for our team, that we go into every game with a positive mindset and good attitude and build each other up throughout the game and it’s really helped us grow stronger.” Senior captain Lily Farrell explains that, despite the losses of the season, the team grows resilience and continuous improvement. Across the season these players have established immense mental positivity and attitude, relying on each other on and off the field, finding the importance in more than just the game. Pilgrim’s field hockey seniors will be incredibly missed, but will continue to use these mental and physical skills throughout their future, hoping the players they’re leaving behind do the same.
