Homecoming week at Pilgrim: the time of year when you’ll find creative costumes, a prideful pep rally, and a night of fun and friends. The week started with themed spirit days, followed by a pep rally, then the homecoming football game, and finally, Pilgrim’s homecoming dance. Throughout the week, there were various groups of students and faculty who took part in the joy.

Spirit Week

Homecoming week started with four spirit days, the first of which was Hawaiian day on Monday, September 29th. Everywhere you looked, floral shirts, leis, and tons of bright colors could be found. On the 30th, cowboy and country club gear took over the Pilgrim halls. October kicked off Decades-Day, where students and faculty dressed as hippies, famous celebrities, and even historical figures! There was no school on Thursday, October 2nd, but Pilgrim came back even stronger for Friday’s blackout and camouflage day!

For each themed day, one student was chosen as the most spirited. On Monday, Aubrey Javis had the most Hawaiian look. Tuesday, Emery Kogut was voted to have the most spirited outfit. Wednesday, Hope Ferland rocked Decades-Day, and Friday’s winner was Cassandra DeFoe. While the people who won had some great costumes, there were some truly inspired looks from numerous decades, bands, and other fascinating cultures!

Pep-Rally

Pilgrim’s pep rally was held on Friday, October 3rd. The festivities opened with Bridget Pouliot’s performance of the national anthem. That was followed by a routine from the cheerleaders and the introductions of Pilgrim’s fall sports teams: girls’ volleyball, unified volleyball, soccer, field hockey, tennis, cross country, and football. Afterward, the contests, organized by Dr. Hainey, commenced. First, the egg toss took place, with anticipation rising as the competition narrowed to the final pairs, and in the end, Brett Taylor and Chase DeGregorio emerged victorious. Next, the Tug-O-War got the crowd cheering, ultimately with the Juniors taking the win. Finally, the pie-eating contest sparked laughter from the audience, with senior Alex Mihalos finishing first. Students and faculty showed excitement and participation throughout the event.

Homecoming Game

On Friday evening, the Pilgrim football team played Mount Hope at our home field. The stands were alive with students cheering, spirit from the cheerleaders, and motivation from the band. Dozens of seniors opted to enjoy a Pilgrim Homecoming week tradition, watching the game from the end zone, bringing their own couches, chairs, and blankets for a cozier and comfortable watching experience.

The game itself was tense, with a lot of back and forth between the teams. Junior Adam El Rhazali got the crowd excited when he scored a touchdown, prompting a celebratory song and dance from the band and cheerleaders. Pilgrim fought hard, bringing a sense of pride to the school.

Homecoming Dance

The Homecoming dance took place on Saturday, October 4th. The theme was red-carpet, and everywhere you looked, you could find banners, candles, and other glamorous decorations. There were hundreds of attendees dressed in their best, dancing, hanging outside, and enjoying the refreshments. The homecoming court was announced earlier during the week, with the homecoming King and Queen being announced at the dance. Seniors Jack Cirelli and Rylyn Radock took home the titles with much love and support from the school. It was a beautiful night where school pride and traditions brought everyone together.
