The Black and White

On Thursday September 12th, students came together from each grade to show and advertise the variety of available clubs here at Pilgrim High School. This event that was held in the cafeteria during advisory and was meant to welcome freshmen and sophomores to a new school year, helping them discover new hobbies and interests as well as connect with upperclassmen, as they will be taking their places in just a few years. 

Each club that participated in this event had their own poster boards with the club name, pictures and general information about who their advisor is, meeting times, and what their club is all about. As students walked around representatives from each club gave the underclassmen stories about experiences they have had in the club, answering any questions they might have had while encouraging them to get involved in extracurricular activities. They had sign up sheets at each station and interested students could also grab a piece of paper with the club’s information if they were interested in joining later on. 

After speaking to a few great teachers here at Pilgrim, the advisor of Guitar Club Mr. Millette said, “Fridays wouldn’t be Fridays without wagon wheel, let’s just have fun!” Mrs. Mixner, the advisor of the Comic Book Club explains to us, “This is a place to meet new friends and use your imagination.” And Dr. Xiarhos, advisor of the Newspaper said, “Newspaper gives students a voice.  Our reporters and photographers did an amazing job last year and I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with this year.”

With 23 clubs taking the time to participate in this event we appreciate the dedication, creativity, and collaboration these students and teachers have to make sure everyone is involved. From arts, music, robotics, creative writing, wellness clubs and more there is always a place for everyone. Many students left excited to try something new and curious to see what the future brings. This was a great way to kick off our 2025-2026 school year!
