The Pilgrim football team faced a tough challenge in their matchup against Burrillville ,a Division I powerhouse, but they fought hard throughout the game.
The first half saw Burrillville jump ahead quickly, and by halftime, they were leading 28-7. However, Pilgrim did not go down without a fight. Jacob Sulliere provided the spark for Pilgrim’s offense, running through Burrillville’s defense for their first touchdown, showing that Pilgrim could still break through Burrillville’s tough defense despite the early deficit.
In the second half, Pilgrim continued to push back. Quarterback Carter Clifton connected with Jacob Sulliere for a second touchdown, keeping Pilgrim in the game and cutting into Burrillville’s lead. Hunter Schobel added another touchdown for Pilgrim in the final quarter, showing the team’s resilience and refusal to give up. Even though Burrillville continued to score and extend their lead, Pilgrim’s offense fought hard to find gaps in the Division I defense.
In the end, Burrillville came out on top, winning 49-21. Despite the loss, Pilgrim’s performance was impressive given the difference in divisions, with Burriville in Division I and Pilgrim in Division III. The halftime score of 28-7 showed how strong Burrillville’s offense was, but Pilgrim’s ability to add two more touchdowns in the second half speaks to their determination.
The experience of playing a higher-level team will only make Pilgrim stronger moving forward and prepare them for their next game.
