On September 17th, the Pilgrim Girls Tennis Team played an exciting match against the Lincoln School for girls. This was a very competitive match with many close points.
Unfortunately, in the end, Lincoln ended up securing the victory.
Pilgrim’s first singles spot was given to Emilia Koopman. As a junior, this is Emilia’s third year on the tennis team. She has worked hard to get where she is and deserves the number one spot. In an exciting game, the final score was 4-6 2-6 in favor of Lincoln.

The second starting singles player is senior captain Michaela Fitzgerald. This is Michaela’s 4th and final year with Pilgrim tennis. Her score in the match was 1-6 1-6. Jillian Mastro-Stefano is Pilgrim’s third starting single. This is Jillian’s third year playing tennis, however she only started playing singles this year. She has improved exponentially over the years and put up a tough fight against her opponent. Her final score was 1-6 3-6.
Finally, Kaylie Martell is the holder of the fourth singles position. This is also Kaylies first year in singles as just a sophomore. Her match today was so close that it required an extra set to determine the winner. Kaylie’s first set resulted in a score of 6-6, leading to an intense tie breaker. Kaylie came out victorious with a score of 7-1. Her second set was 4-6. Her third set ended in 1-6 which sadly means Kaylie lost.
Their next match will be on 9/23 against Rogers at home.
Good luck patriots!
